March Blogging Break

After a pretty wild February, I have been feeling like it would be best to give my blog a break for March. Ministry on the road is very time-consuming + energy-draining, and blogging personally on top of all that just got to be a little much for February. I'm really working this year on finding joy in the little things, and a part of that is learning when too much is too much, and when it is time to step back and slow down. I'm a slow learner, but I am really trying for this in 2015!

The timing of my decision was just perfect, and I can now see that God had laid that on my heart, because after the events of today and some other things happening, my whole month has been turned upside down anyways, in terms of schedule and travel and everything. So it is definitely the right time for a break.

I will also be resuming my monthly goals in April, and I will be sharing then how February goals went. (again, in trying to keep things simple, I'm not doing goals for March)

If you want to keep up with me + my family this next month, you can do so through our family blog where my sister + I will continue posting occasionally. I would greatly appreciate your prayers as there are some pretty big new hurdles ahead and this month already promises to be stretching + challenging! (also, if you live nearby I would love to meet you during our March portion of the tour! See our March schedule here)

Hope everyone has a wonderful March, and I can't wait to see y'all back here again in April!

"For the JOY of the Lord is your strength."
Nehemiah 8:10b

Much love, friends!

  8. Hey are y'all still in Hattiesburg or at least MS? We live in Hattiesburg, and if I'd known you'd be singing here I would've loved to come meet y'all.

    1. No..our concert in Hattiesburg actually got cancelled due to our bus issues. And then we were just in MS (but another part of the state, Macon) for Friday/Saturday. So sorry we missed you!! Maybe next year!

  9. I am so going to miss your posts, but I admire you for seeing that you need to step back and actually doing it, and not feeling presured to keep posting or whatever. And April is only a few weeks away...
And I love the perspective (and flexibility) you guys have in the midst of these crazy events.
    Keeping pressing on!

    1. Actually this picture was taken last fall. And I haven't had a cut since then so technically its grown longer by now. It grows really really fast...three years ago I had it almost shoulder length + I've had several trims since then but still its pretty long by now. I had highlights/lowlights done right before we left on tour and they are already growing out.
      I looove long hair. =)

  11. Hey Chelsy~ I've got a question for you---how did you learn to type(I want to be able to type FAST:)? If you don't have time to answer my question I'll understand, although I'd appreciate it if you would. :) I'm homeschooled and I knew you were to, so I thought you'd be a good one to ask. And, yes, I know this question has nothing to do with your post, but (if I may use this excuse) I have no other way of internet communication (email etc...) so...well... I just decided to ask you here in the comment box. :) Anyway thanx for your time. God bless! P. S. I've followed your blog (as well as your family's blog and your brother Mitchell's) for over 6 months and have been greatly encouraged by the post's. I just LOVE how ya'll get along so good with each other (although not perfectly of course, because we're human) :) but it encourages me to gain a closer relationship with each of my siblings. And (I'm sure you can identify with me here) as the oldest it isn't always easy setting a good example. :) But I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength! ~Kara Beth~

    1. Hi Kara Beth!
I just wanted to give you a piece of hope for your typing skills! I was 100% Homeschooled and can type around 80 wpm. at my best.
But I wasn't always that way. I used to do the pointer-finger thingee. *Smiles* It was so discouraging.
All that changed when I was 14. I took a typing class called Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing. It's a great program with games, as well as fun/easy lessons. It was so fun to learn in that program that I learned to type fast in no time!
My only advice is to take the time at the beginning to do it right... ie. no looking at the keyboard!
It's worth it to be able to look at a book or your computer screen and typet as you are reading it, with total accuracy.
I hope this is as helpful for you as it was for me! No more staring at the keyboard and no more taking hours to type. :) I am now 20 years old and throughout the years this has literally been a life-saver!
      Many Blessings!
P.S. Here's a link...though I took an older version... so I hope the new one is just as good. :) Enjoy!

    2. Hello Kara Beth!
Well, I don't exactly consider myself an expert on typing. =)
But...the typing program that we have used in our family and that has really helped us is called "Typing Tutor Seven". Its a great program.
Also thanks for your encouragement-I'm thankful if the Lord can use my blog to be a blessing to you!

    1. Nope..I've never heard of that word. =) What does it mean?

  13. It means "very beautiful" - a little counterintuitive from the sound of the word.

Thanks for blogging. My sister sent me a link to your "Single and Satisfied" blog post and I thought you had some excellent things to say.

My family watched you play a few years ago, but I was gone at the time, so I have only seen YouTube videos of you guys playing. (I love "The Bontrager Family Singers -- Sibling Cooperation.") I noticed from your schedule you have been in the Southeast and Mexico lately. I live in Oregon (Portland area). Do you guys get out to the Northwest very much on your family singing tours?

P.S. Pardon my misspelling of your name in my first comment.

    1. Aww, thanks...thats sweet of you to say!

We've only been on a northwest concert tour once, and that was three years ago. We would love to come again, but currently we can't keep up with all of our requests in our normal routes (midwest, eastern, and southern states, not to mention Canada and Mexico)
We would love to come out there again though-maybe sometime in the future!
